Three hundred-plus entries in the directory. Pro at $9 a month, checkout live, fulfillment tested by me. Confirmed paying subscribers: I cannot name one, and consistent with this book's only ironclad rule, I won't pretend. Waitlist signups from the shell phase were not enough to constitute the validation signal I should have waited for. The reconcile job runs every ten minutes, dutifully re-syncing a subscriber list that has yet to demand the effort.…

The lesson recorded after launch

When content costs collapse, curation without distribution is worthless — anyone can now generate the same directory in a weekend, because I did. The defensible asset in a content product was never the content; it's the trust and the audience that make people consult your version. The deeper lesson is the one the site itself teaches and its builder ignored: the waitlist shell was the cheap experiment, and I should have let it run until it produced a verdict before writing a line of the real app.…
